PSYCHOTHERAPY

Grounded in the alliance between the patient and clinician, psychotherapy provides a forum to communicate, organize, and manage thoughts and feelings. Treatment focuses on the expression and examination of emotion, exploration of avoidances, and identification of recurring themes and patterns. In addition to the cathartic impact, psychotherapy engenders flexibility of thought, tolerance, and opportunities to make more informed choices.

I provide individual, couples, and family therapy for a variety of concerns, including:
• Depression
• Anxiety
• Trauma
• Relational difficulties and interpersonal conflict
• Life transitions
• Loss and grief
• Stress management.

PSYCHOLOGICAL ASSESSMENT

Psychological assessment provides another avenue for clarifying personal concerns and developing pathways for change. Centered around the use of standardized measures, a psychological assessment allows patients to examine themselves in a precise and in-depth manner. Possible reasons to complete a psychological assessment include:
• Determining current cognitive, academic, and personality functioning.
• Clarifying diagnosis and identifying gifts or disabilities.
• Exploring the impact of particular circumstances or stressors on emotional and behavioral functioning.
• Exploring underlying issues which may be inhibiting the expression of a person's full potential.
• Evaluating the appropriateness of current interventions, and to determine the need for supplemental services.

FORENSIC ASSESSMENT & CONSULTATION

Psychological assessment data and research findings often can assist in clarifying legal questions. A forensic psychological evaluation involves extensive interviewing, collection of collateral information, and psychological testing. I provide the following forensic services for juvenile and adult cases:
• Criminal and civil forensic psychological evaluation and testimony
• Criminal and civil forensic psychological consultation
• Treatment recommendations to assist with disposition
• Competency to stand trial evaluations
• Expert testimony
• Violence risk assessment
• Consultation to criminal investigators and law enforcement.

CLINICAL SUPERVISION

Supervision gives practicing providers an opportunity to strengthen or learn new clinical skills. I provide supervision of psychotherapy, psychological assessment, and supervision technique.
